Thank you for your interest in a new kind of trash service that's economical and convenient.

How the Service Works

After you sign up for service, simply go to the nearest HT Abfall site.

As your vehicle approaches the site, the system automatically recognizes you and opens the doors to the disposal area so you can drive in (the site is normally closed and locked).  You are recognized and let into the site without exiting your vehicle and without waiting for a person to attend to you.

Once inside the site, put your trash in the provided dumpster and leave.

As your vehicle approaches the exit door, the system will automatically open and close the exit door for you.

You will receive a printed receipt just outside the enclosed area after you exit.

That's it!  Simply drive to an HT Abfall site, unload your trash, and leave.

Advantages of the Service

  • Very low cost.  You can save more than 60% over traditional trash service, especially if you recycle. Those that don't recycle will also save a significant amount over traditional trash service.
  • Hassle free and easy to use.  Drive in, unload your trash, and leave.
  • Dump any day any time.  Dump your trash when you want.
    • No more problems associated with forgetting to put the trash out.
    • Dump your trash when the weather is nice.  Because you choose when to dump, you don't have to take the trash out when it is snowing or raining.
  • Many people will not need to go to the collection site more than once every three months if they recycle.  (For a list of recycling areas in your neighborhood, go to IDEM's recycling site.)
  • Good for the environment because it rewards recycling.

Rules and Requirements

  • All trash must be enclosed in trash bags.

This is required because we want to be good neighbors.  If trash is not enclosed in trash bags, it tends to fly out during transport, littering the highways and the neighborhood.

Note: Because we value the neighborhood, this rule will be strictly enforced.   Anyone dumping trash that is not in a trash bag will be warned the first time and their membership canceled the second time.

  • All trash must fit in the hopper at the trash site.
  • No environmentally hazardous materials may be dumped. Hazardous materials, as defined by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) are as follows:
    • Tires
    • Oil and Antifreeze
    • Gas
    • Batteries
    • Paint
    • Pesticides
To dispose of items listed above, see the IDEM website .

Cost

The cost of our service is very low, typically 50 to 66 percent less than traditional trash service.

There are two costs associated with the service. There is a monthly membership fee, and fees based on the number of bags of trash you dump.

The monthly membership fee is currently $7.99 per month.

You will also pay a fee for every bag dumped. If the bag is the size of a tall kitchen bag (13 gallon) or less, you will pay 38 cents for each bag.  All bags larger than a tall kitchen bag will be charged $0.79 for each bag dumped.

A two person family that recycles as much as possible can expect to pay a total of $9.51 per month.
